Raising awareness about the project and the elections, DI hosted the Youth Democracy Festival in Düsseldorf as our kick-off for YEUF in Germany. More than 100 young people, NGOs, Members of regional and national Parliaments, TV broadcasters and poetry slammers joined us on 19 August to discuss democracy, youth participation and many more pressing issues! It was a blast!
The main topics of the festival were climate and democracy, anti-racism, intersectionality and other forms of discrimination, strategies against right-wing extremism and conspiracy myths, media competence and innovative forms of youth participation and co-determination. Link to the event reel.
Changemakers also attended an initial training in Aachen where this year’s Charlemagne Youth Prize Ceremony inspired them for their own workshops.
And our changemakers in Germany got really creative: From discussion rounds on migration and the EU, to election trainings and EuroTrivia rounds at democracy and youth festivals all over Germany. You can find impressions from our changemaker events in our YEUF highlight.
All our events across Europe come together on the European Parliament's official platform with information and events around teh elections 2024, the Together.eu platform. Sign up now to stay tuned and join events in your neighbourhood!
YEUF is a cooperation of the Charlemagne Youth Prize Alumni Network and co-funded by the EU.
