When Hannah started her internship, she had just finished her bachelor’s degree in Political Science and Cultural Anthropology at Kiel University and was about to continue her studies in London.

I interned with Democracy International for two months – from mid-April until mid-June. Because of the situation with covid-19 at the time, I only got to be at the office once, however, the daily team calls were great to understand what everyone is up to and what projects are being developed. Apart from that, writing emails, scheduling zoom calls and regular calls were great to communicate. And everyone was very nice, and I felt like I could always ask the questions I had.

My main tasks included producing the daily digest for social media promotion, translating articles, supporting events, and writing reports on meetings and ongoing projects. My days were always different which was nice and never boring. I mainly worked on the campaign for a United Nations World Citizens’ Initiative (UNWCI) and was supervised by Caroline Vernaillen. Still, I had contact with almost everyone in the team and have also got to chat with the other interns.

In my internship, I learnt a lot about the organization and network of an international NGO as well as the ways of campaigning globally. I met inspiring people and had great and thought-provoking discussions. I am thankful for this opportunity and what it has taught me.
