In our modern economy individuals need an income in order to provide for themselves. In the same way, businesses need credit to reach their targets. For businesses oriented towards meeting real needs and being committed to the common good, a 'free' (both freely accessible and interest-free) source of operating finances should be the norm, to be placed within the framework of a formal "Right to Credit".

This is what the Europe 2019 Credit Initiative is about. As a first step, it proposes to change the statutes of the European Central Bank (ECB). In order to reach this goal it intends to use a European Citizens' Initiative to generate public debate as a complementary way of financing enterprises - and as an alternative to the capital of market and profit-oriented commercial banks. The organisers invite to a conference those interested to learn more about the issues of the Credit Initiative and the envisaged steps of the campaign.
