While interning with us Melissa studied Political and Social Studies at the University of Würzburg.

When I started my internship at Democracy International, I was the first intern after a longer period. Although the team had to adapt to the new situation, I felt warmly welcome and as an appreciated support of the team from the very beginning. As Caroline’s assistant I was mainly responsible for managing the Twitter – and Facebookaccount as well as writing a weekly press review. In addition to that I was given a free hand in making improvements at the official Wikipedia-page as well as the NGO’s Youtube-Channel and could try out programmes like Adobe InDesign. During my internship there were also several events happening that I could join and write articles for the Newsletter about. At an international conference in Wuppertal I was given the opportunity to interview a political scientist from Peru, which was also kept on camera. Besides being able to test a lot of different tasks I really enjoyed the insights I could gain into the work of this small NGO. One of the points that I will always keep in good memory is the atmosphere at Democracy International. Everyone was always very positive, supportive and professional and gave me the feeling to play an important role although only being there for a short internship. Even though my internship ended in March, the team still invited me to come to Brussels for the ECI day. Especially for this interesting opportunity I remain very thankful.
