In the aftermath of the Arab Spring, a transformative wave swept across the Arab world, kindling aspirations of change. Yet, the pivotal question lingers: what has become of democracy in this region that once held such promise? The path to progress is increasingly obscured.

Activists now face an uphill struggle. Their mission to foster a more inclusive democracy is marred by an onslaught of hate speech and the suppression of minority groups.  Authoritarianism appears to be staging a disquieting comeback, casting a shadow over the very essence of democracy.

Join us for a webinar featuring Hichem Mehrzi, a passionate political and human rights activist hailing from Tunisia. He will share his profound insights on the journey of activism for a more robust democracy in his homeland.

Mini Documentary - Hichem explains the realities and challenges of democracy activism in Tunisia

In a webinar on 8 November, Hichem was joined by Ghofran Vilquin, a dedicated advocate for justice, democracy, and human rights who has made significant contributions to renowned organizations such as the International Center for Transitional Justice, the UNHCR, and the Council of Europe.
