Participate in a European discussion on how the EU should handle the pandemic and consult EU politicians!

We all long to return to everyday life: being able to meet friends and family again without restrictions, finally being able to go for a meal or travel without worries, and go to work or school without a mask - that would be nice after over a year of Covid-19!

On May 26th 18-20:00 CEST, facilitated by the European HomeParliaments, Pulse of Europe and Democracy International give European citizens the chance to influence post-Covid European politics. How do you think future crises should be handled?

You will have the opportunity to discuss in small, diverse groups of 6 people with participants from different European countries how you want the EU to handle the pandemic.

How will it work?

The European HomeParliaments are a project on citizen participation by the pro-European citizens’ movement, Pulse of Europe in cooperation with Democracy International. By taking part in a HomeParliament, citizens will be able to influence EU policy and connect with EU politicians.

  1. Imagine that you are a Parliamentarian. You have to make critical decisions about how the EU will handle the current crisis at hand and how it should handle future crises. Should the EU represent European interests more decisively in future pandemic crises?

With 5 other participants in a Zoom breakout room, be ready to discuss:

a. Should vaccines and vital medical products be produced entirely in the EU in the future to ensure the supply of the EU population?

b. Should vital medical products (such as vaccines) only be exported from the EU once European citizens have been supplied?

c. Should citizens be allowed unrestricted travel within the European Union after vaccination or proven immunity?

  1. You will receive easy-to-understand briefings and background information by Pulse of Europe, and technical moderators will be there to help.

  2. You submit the results online and we wrap up the session.

  3. The results are aggregated into a report, and high-ranking politicians will receive and respond to the report. Among our 24 political partners from six different countries and five different parties are Katharina Barley (Socialists and Democrats), Manfred Weber (European People’s Party), and Martin Schirdewan (The Left).
