I met Democracy International at a career day at my university in Sweden. Like everything in 2021, it was digital and it wasn't that easy to interact. There were no more places available for the period in which I actually wanted to do my internship, but I applied anyway - and was able to start my internship two months later than planned.

This meant that my internship overlapped with my university courses, some of which I had to attend in person. Accordingly, I completed my internship online. But that was basically no problem. Through the daily team meetings, I always felt included and knew what the others were doing. The fact that the internship was so compatible with my studies is not something that can be taken for granted and I am very grateful.

Fortunately, the working hours were very flexible - I usually started between 7 and 8 a.m. (and was probably active the earliest?) so that I could go to my university courses in the afternoon or evening.

Right from the start, I noticed that I could take on a lot of responsibility here at DI if I wanted to. I was immediately given a larger project and took care of setting up an Instagram page. After the basic framework was in place, I also took care of the content, created images, wrote texts and took care of the other social media platforms. During my internship, I was also able to publish three articles on the website and the Democracy Community. There were always very good feedback discussions and in the team meetings everyone was involved in making the publications a success. I especially enjoyed working on the articles and the supervision helped me a lot. Through the internship, I learned a lot about myself and now have an idea of what I would like to focus on in my career.
