It is time to make final arrangements for the Global Forum on Modern Direct Democracy to take place in Tunisia's capital Tunis from 14 to 17 May 2015. On the right hand side you find important information to facilitate your preparations.

Arrival at Tunis International Airport

Starting from Tuesday, 12 May 2015, we will welcome you at our reception desk in the arrival hall of the Tunis International Airport. Global Forum staff will hand out the conference brochure and will help you to get a taxi to your hotel. A taxi to the city center of Tunis will cost approximately 6 to 10 dinar (3 to 5 €). If you already arrive on Monday, 11 May or after Friday, May 15, please inform us. If possible, we will organize a contact person for you at the airport.

To organize the reception desk we kindly ask you to send us the arrival time of your flight and the name and address of your hotel.

Security

The 2015 Global Forum will be attended by many people from many countries including leading representatives of government (eg the Tunisian Prime Minister and the president of the European Economic and Social Committee), media, civil society, business and academia. For this reason and due to the situation in Tunisia and the region security arrangements will be strict and comprehensive. Please be advised to follow all instructions from arriving to Tunis until you leave. On arrival you will get a security manual with important numbers and information.

Hotel and Shuttle to the conference center

The organization committee works together with the following hotels:
Ambassadeurs Hotel
Hotel Ariha
Golden Tulip
Majestic Hotel

Every morning from 7:30 am to 09:00 am, Forum volunteers will be at these hotels to help you and answer your questions. They will explain you the way to the conference center at INAT. Moreover, we will provide shuttle buses from the hotels to the conference center from Thursday to Sunday. The shuttle buses will leave every morning at approximately 08:00 am.
The shuttle buses will also bring you back to your hotel in the evening. You will find a detailed schedule in your conference brochure.

Venue

Starting from Wednesday, May 13, we will also open our reception desk at the conference center at INAT. If you didn´t get already your conference brochure including all the necessary information and materials on your arrival at the airport, you can visit us there. The reception desk at INAT will be open from Wednesday, May 13 to Sunday, May 17 from 8:30 am to 06:00 pm. If you have any questions during the conference, you will get help there.

Catering

Each day, we will have a two-hour lunch break. Therefore, we organized two different choices for you to buy drinks and food at INAT.
First is to preorder lunch packages. If you choose this, you can already send us an email with your order. A lunch package will cost approximately 14 dinar (7 €) per day. This includes a sandwich, fruits, cake and water. Also, you can order the lunch packages at our reception desk. But, you need to preorder at least one day before.

Second, we will have a small catering company, which will serve lunch. There, you can buy sandwiches, fruits, drinks and small meals. Preorders will be not necessary. The prices for the different choices will be approximately between 2 and 5 dinars (1 to 2,50 €).

Registration for Workshops

Besides lectures and panel discussion in front of the whole plenary, the programme of the Global Forum on Modern Direct Democracy will include three workshop sessions. We kindly ask you to register for the workshops  ahead of the Forum.
