Falun Democracy Week

One year ahead of the next Swedish elections to local, regional and national parliaments, the city of Falun organises a full thematic week about the democratic rights and responsibilities of active citizens. As an internationally renowed Democracy City, Falun puts the focus on Citizens’ Dialogue. They are now partnering with national and international partners to develop local, regional, national, European and global societies.

The 2017 Falun Democracy Week takes place 9-15 September. Each day of the week while have a different theme.

On Friday 15 September, we celebrate International Democracy Day with an outlook on Europe and the world. How to make active citizenship and participatory democracy more of an everyday reality at the transnational and global level?

While most activities will be in Swedish, english speaking participants are welcome on all days - and especially at the International Day of Democracy conference on September 15, which will be in English.
