Struggle for a fair election law gets going
The regional branch of Mehr Demokratie in Bremen has successfully completed the first step of the citizens submission. The next task: From 18. Juli until 18. October the group has to gather 48.175 signatures. The aim of the campaign is to improve the new election law.
Finally, the voters will decide in a referendum.
In the meantime the experience from the information campaign in North-Rhine Westphalia was positive. Now the regional branch is preparing a citizens’ initiative on that issue. 65.000 citizens are able to force a discussion about the issue in the regional parliament with their signature. If preparations are successful, the campaign will start in 2007.
