EU Constitution - Ratification

consultative referendum + Parliamentary approval

The consultative referendum has been held on February 20, 2005. The results were 76,7% in favour, 17,2% against and 6% of blank votes. The question asked was: “Are you in favour of the Treaty establishing a Constitution for Europe?”

The parliamentary approval could happen before June 2005.

The ratification of the Eu constitution was approved by a majority on Febuary 20, 2005.

In March 1986, a national referendum was held on Spain’s participation in NATO, on the basis of Article 92 of the Constitution (result: 52.5% ‘yes’, with a turnout of 59.7%).
