A truly democratic Europe can only be built through open and inclusive debate with its citizens. The European Public Sphere, a joint project by Democracy International and IG Eurovision, creates a space for these debates.
The "European Public Sphere" project wants to create a public space for open debates on the future of Europe. With its geodesic dome, the initiative travels through Europe and invites people to share their thoughts and ideas! The goal is to gather the building blocks for the social architecture of Europe, through discussions open-to-all.
As a response to the delayed and ambiguous Conference on the Future of Europe, Democracy International was one of the founding members of the Citizens Take Over Europe coalition that was established in early spring 2020.
We want to give citizens control over the future of Europe - their own future - by involving them in a credible and proactive manner in the much-needed democratic reform of the European Union. This is why we want a citizens-centered European deocracy starting with a democratic, transparent, and participatory Conference on the Future of Europe!
