Day of Action: Porto, PortugalNOW WE SEE!
The action took place, symbolically, in the morning, after 11 o'clock. The transparent ballot walked down slowly Santa Catarina Street, at the very heart of Porto. The stops were many. People spoke, discussed, they were well informed. Many voted immediately, as an act of a very conscious will.
The action was organised by New Democracy Party. The party leader, Dr. Manuel Monteiro, Deputy Secretary-General, Sr. Tomé Fernandes, the secretary for Luso-African Affairs, Dr. Manuel Ramalho and International Relations Secretary, Prof. Paulo Ferreira da Cunha opened the marching group composed also of very enthusiastic young people, despite the cold whether...
Journalists from TV and papers were on the spot, and Dr. Manuel Monteiro gave an interview about the event.
People were very informed and voted massively. Not a single vote for "NO" to the referendum in Porto.
We benefited from the casual presence of an impressive band of young people: they sang many enthusiastic songs announcing Christmas. Someone remarked, when they played "Amazing Grace": "I was blind but now I see -- that's the point about European Constitution". NOW WE SEE. People are seeing indeed.
