Santa Claus decides ...

 

The European Referendum Campaign initiated an event that took place the same day in over 20 European countries. "Wëllt Dir iwwer d'EU-Verfassung an engem Referendum ofstëmmen ?" was the question people where asked on Saturday December 6 in a mini-referendum in the main shopping street in Luxembourg-City.

 

The event was organized by the "Initiativ fir Demokratie-Erweiderung a.s.b.l." with the help of activists from "ACC", "Attac Luxembourg", "Jugend fir Fridden a Gerechtegkeet" and "MTK-IDEE, Initiative for Direct Democracy". RTL, the local Radio and TV-station were covering the event. People were informed about the process of putting in place the European constitution and the importance of not only talking about the future of the institutions, but also of the content of the proposal. 87% of the citizens asked on this day in Luxembourg (including Santa Claus!) were in favour of letting the people decide on the EU Constitution in fair referenda.
