Call for Papers: Environmental Impacts of Direct Democracy

The Environmental Assessment and Planning Research Group at the Technische Universität Berlin (Germany) is organising a Symposium on the Environmental Impacts of Direct Democracy on March 21-23, 2012 in Berlin, Germany.

With an increasing number of countries allowing for means of direct democracy and with a rising number of decisions being made at the ballot box, the question what direct and indirect impacts these decisions have on the environment gains importance. Thus, the symposium is intended to provide a forum for exchange of scientists from various disciplines and countries discussing the relation of direct democracy and the environment and identifying promising future research hypotheses. We invite abstracts for papers for the symposium from scholars in the social and natural sciences as well as practitioners. Abstracts must be submitted electronically by 15 November 2011 and may not exceed 250 words.

All abstracts will be evaluated in a review process by members of the symposium organizing panel. The abstracts should be sent by email to submission@eidd2012.tu-berlin.de.
