Democracy Tour in the UKTo Hull and backDay Seven: (30.3.)The display was set up for the last time in Hull. Many activists from the local DM branch showed up to help us and to spread leaflets. A camera team from the BBC filmed the scenary for the local news. A journalist interviewed Ronald and Marc for a radio station. After a few hours campaigning, we travelled to the nearby local office of Deputy Prime Minister John Prescott. There we delivered a joint-campaign letter calling on him to support a referendum. Afterwards it was time to say goodbye.
ConclusionI have experienced an interesting week. There are several characteristics of the British situation. The most important one: In Britain the government is in favour of the constitution. At the same time there is a well-organized and comparatively strong opposition. So a debate on the question will be supported from two strong sides.
